Kimberley First Saturdays 2020
Arts, Culture & Heritage Celebrations
Kimberley First Saturday (KFS) has been a mainstay of the summer festival line-up in Kimberley for the last seven years. The Kimberley Arts Council in partnership with a number of local organizations has been thrilled with the success of this festival. We have supported local and regional arts, music, culture and heritage, and contributed to the vibrancy of the downtown Platzl area. Kimberley First Saturday has enhanced our visitors experience and it is a highly anticipated event by our local community members.
The Kimberley Arts Council has been carefully assessing all its program and event offerings and is making decisions on future programming based on direction from local, provincial and federal levels as well as BC Arts Council. The KFS committee chairs have also been taking this direction, and the decision has been made that there will not be a Kimberley First Saturday in either July or August, 2020.
We have not yet made a decision on September or our annual Oktoberfest and will continue to assess the situation over the next months and decisions will be dependant on direction from authorities. We are continually brainstorming on how we can continue to support the local arts community and work within current health guidelines.
“We are very appreciative of the continuing support from our partners including The City of Kimberley, Tourism Kimberley, The Kimberley Chamber of Commerce, RDEK, and the Columbia Basin Trust” said Carol Fergus, KFS Co-Chair; “We are determined to find a way to continue building the vibrancy of our community and supporting the Arts; we will figure it out.”
