Richard Harrison is the author of six books of poetry, among them Big Breath of a Wish, about his infant daughter learning to speak, and the Governor General’s Award-winning On Not Losing My Father’s Ashes in the Flood. Hero of the Play, Richard’s book of poems in the language of hockey, which he launched at the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1994, will be released this coming fall as 25: Hockey Poems Selected and New to mark the book’s twenty-fifth year in print. Richard’s work has been translated into five languages, including a complete Italian translation of On Not Losing My Father’s Ashes in the Flood. Richard has read across Canada and the United States, in Italy, and in England, where his work is included in the Poetry Archive Society online library. He has contributed essays and poetry to the writing on comics and graphic novels, hockey, poetry, mathematics, and ecopoetics. He teaches English and Creative Writing at Calgary’s Mount Royal University.
